Nearly 20 years after his final game in a Lander uniform, Stilian Shishkov remains the standard by which all other PBC men’s soccer players are measured. For a blistering three years between 1993 and 95, Shishkov took the DII men’s soccer world by storm. He remains the PBC’s all-time career leader in goals scored (93), points (210), shots (284) and match winners (24).
Coming from his native Bulgaria to Greenwood, S.C., as a sophomore, Shishkov scored 32 goals in his first year at Lander and added another 32 his junior season, leading the nation on both occasions. He scored 29 as a senior and those three seasons remain three of the top four scoring years by any PBC player. He has 25 more career goals than the next-highest player on the PBC list and has cleared the career points list by 33.
He remains second All-Time in NCAA Division II history with 1.52 goals per game and is fifth on the NCAA All-Time scoring list. He was the first three-time All-American in PBC men’s soccer history and the only men’s soccer player in league history to be named the Player of the Year three times.
The PBC’s male representative on the the NCAA Division II 40th Anniversary team, he was inducted into the Lander University Athletics Hall of Fame and played professionally for a variety of American teams and became an executive director for the Atlanta Silverbacks.
In 2010 he founded MSK Group which is the home of www.sportal.bg, the largest on-line sports reporting site in Bulgaria with 40 internet portals. He currently maintains a residences in Atlanta and Sofia, Bulgaria.
