MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – Ten Peach Belt Conference softball players were named All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association. Seven of those players were named first-team All-Region and are now eligible for All-America consideration. North Georgia's Kylee Smith was named the region Pitcher of the Year and Columbus State's Elizabeth Perdue the region Player of the Year. The team is selected by region sports information directors.
Smith was named Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year after going 33-1 with a 0.85 ERA and 303 strikeouts over 202.1 innings in the circle this season. Earlier this year, she was also named the Peach Belt Pitcher of the Year. This is her second D2CCA First Team honor of her career.
Already the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year, Perdue adds another award to her strong junior campaign. Perdue finished the season with a team-best .423 average, 13 home runs and 68 RBIs, ranking top three in the PBC in all three categories. The Phenix City, Ala. native collected 22 multi-hit games on the year, never seeing her batting average drop below .416 at any point.
North Georgia led all conference schools with four selections while Columbus State had three. The All-America team will be announced next week.
