UNC Pembroke Keeps Lead Through Round Two of PBC Women’s Golf Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA – The gap narrowed slightly, but UNC Pembroke maintained their lead through the second round of the PBC women’s golf championships at the Slammer & Squire in St. Augustine.  The Braves fired a second-round team 309 and now lead the tournament by nine strokes ahead of second-place Flagler.  The championship will conclude on Sunday with 18 holes.

UNCP’s Madison Corley remains atop the player leaderboard following a second-round 79.  Her four-stroke lead following round one was trimmed to one as Young Harris’ Hannah Walker shot a second-round 74 and sits one stroke behind, tied with UNCP’s Megan Munroe.

UNCP had all five players shoot in the 70s on Saturday.  Munroe led the team with a 76 followed by Katy Flax’s 77 and Alexandria Bare’s 78. Savannah Thompson shaved three strokes off her round one score for a 78.  All five UNCP players are in the top 12.

Flagler shot a team 307 for the second straight day.  Miranda Greene led the Saints with a 75 while Natalia Azcue fired a 76.  Both are in the individual top five.

Walker’s effort helped Young Harris jump two spots to third place.    Walker collected two birdies on the front side and had team low round at 74.  

North Georgia’s Megan Sabol, the PBC Player of the Year, moved up five spots into sixth place with a second-round 73, the lowest round of the day.  Sabol had three birdies on back nine and is now three shots off the lead.
