PBC Releases Volleyball Tournament Bracket

AUGUSTA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference has released the bracket for the 2021 Volleyball Tournament, which begins this Friday in Augusta, Ga. Augusta University will serve as the host with all games being played in Christenberry Fieldhouse. All six PBC teams will advance to the tournament with the #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5 matches on Friday. Those two winners will meet the 1 and 2 seeds on Saturday with the championship match on Sunday.

Flagler is the #1 seed for the PBC Tournament. The Saints captured the top spot for the third year in a row after running the table in the PBC with a perfect 10-0 record and 20-4 overall. Ranked #5 in the NCAA Southeast Region Poll, the Saints won their third straight PBC regular-season championship and eighth overall. Flagler also won three straight PBC Tournament titles from 2015 to 2017 and have reached the championship match in the last two years.

Augusta hosts the PBC Tournament for the first time since 2011. The Jaguars are three-time defending tournament champions and were not the #1 seed for any of those. AU was the #2 seed last year when they won the championship and are the #2 seed again in 2021 after finishing the season with a 7-3 record in conference play and 20-8 overall.

USC Aiken is the #3 seed and will take the court in the quarterfinal round on Friday. The Pacers were 6-4 in league play this year, 17-8 overall. USCA won regular-season championships in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 and are looking for their first tournament title since 2007. USC Aiken will face Young Harris on Friday.

Georgia College returns to the PBC Tournament for the first time since 2018 and have their highest seed since 2017 when they reached the championship game as #3. The Bobcats are the #4 seed this season with a 4-6 league record that featured a win over Augusta. GC will meet Lander in Friday’s action.

Lander is the #5 but won two of their last three heading into tournament play including a sweep of Georgia College on Nov. 5. The Bearcats reached the PBC semifinals in 2018 and 2019 and are looking for their first trip to the final since 2007.

Young Harris began their volleyball program in the midst of the COVID pandemic and will make their first appearance in the PBC Tournament after last season’s event was narrowed to just four teams. The Mountain Lions completed their first full regular-season of fall competition and the team won their first three matches in program history. YHC will play their first PBC Tournament game against USC Aiken.
