AUGUSTA, GA – Fifth-seeded Lander was down 1-0 and 2-1, but rallied to win the final two sets and defeat fourth-seeded Georgia College 3-2 in the PBC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. With the victory, the Bearcats advance to the semifinals on Saturday where they will face top-seeded Flagler at 4:30pm. Match scores were 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 and 15-13.

Match Notes

• The two teams were tied on six different occasions in the fifth set alone, but Georgia College never held the lead at any point. Leading 13-12, Lander got a block from Maddie Moss and Maya Walker to get a double match point. GC fought off the first with a kill from Mary Kate Kotzin. Lander won the match on the next serve on a kill from Walker.

• Lander hit .419 in the pivotal fourth set as GC hit .032 with eight kills and seven attack errors. The score was tied a 2-2 in the fourth when Lander scored the next six points in a row, part of a larger 9-2 run that the Bobcats could not recover from

• Christina Aguayo led Lander with 20 kills and was second on the team with 17 digs. She was one of four Bearcats to reach double-digit kills as Olivia Dow had 15 with Walker and Daria De Carvalho Peixe with 12 each

• Maddie Moss had 53 assists for Lander while Patricia Pantoja had 29 digs

• Lander hit .212 as a team while GC hit .118 with 31 attack errors

• Ally Hall led Georgia College with 17 kills and added 19 digs; Sarah Stewart led the team with 21 digs while Lauren Talele had 45 assists
