PBC Releases Men's Basketball All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference has released the 2021-22 men's basketball All-Conference team and post-season awards.  For the second time in the last four years and fourth time overall, the PBC will recognize co-Players of the Year with Augusta's Tyshaun Crawford and Flagler's Jaizec Lottie.  Columbus State's Nelson Haskin was named the Defensive Player of the Year, Lander's Dominic Standford the Freshman of the Year and Georgia College's Mark Gainous the Herbert Greene Coach of the Year.

    • A junior center from Griffin, Ga.
    • Ranked third in the PBC in scoring with 17.2 points per game and third in rebounding with 8.2 per contest
    • Twice named the PBC Player of the Week and named the D2CIDA National Player of the Week on Feb. 22
    • Recorded nine double-doubles on the year, 11 games with 20 or more points and 10 games with 10 or more rebounds
    • Ranked second in the PBC in field goal percentage and blocked shots
    • Becomes the ninth Jaguar to be named a PBC Player of the Year, the first since Deane Williams in 2019
    • A senior guard from Aurora, Colo.
    • Becomes the first men’s basketball player to earn PBC Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons since Montevallo’s Troran Brown in 2015 and only the seventh in PBC history
    • Leads the PBC and is ranked 8th in NCAA Division II in scoring with 23.0 points per game
    • Also leads the conference in assists per game, is fourth in steals and seventh in field goal percentage
    • Scored 40 in a win over Embry-Riddle, the most in a single game by any PBC player this season and had six games of 30 or more points
    • Named the PBC Player of the Week three times this season and a top 50 finalist for the Bevo Francis Award
    • A senior forward from Demopolis, Ala.
    • Leads the Peach Belt and is ranked 10th in NCAA Division II in blocked shots per game and eighth nationally in total blocks
    • Ranked eighth in the PBC in rebounds per game with four games of double-digit rebounds
    • Had seven blocks against Georgia Southwestern which is the most in a single game in the PBC this season, also tied for second-most with six blocks against Tuskegee
    • Also scored 9.1 points per game, leading the team in field goal percentage at .537
    • Becomes the first Cougar to be named the Defensive Player of the Year
    • A freshman guard from Virginia Beach, Va.
    • Is the only player to appear in all 28 Bearcat games this season, making 25 starts and averaging 9.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game
    • Named the PBC Player of the Week on Dec 20
    • Had 12 games with double-digit points including a career-high 22 against Columbus State
    • Becomes the first Lander men’s basketball player to be named the PBC Freshman of the Year
    • Currently in his eighth season as head coach at Georgia College
    • His 2021-22 team finished third in the PBC regular-season standings with a 13-5 league mark, 21-7 overall; it is the second year in a row that the Bobcats have finished in the top three in the standings
    • GC was nationally-ranked for three weeks during the year, rising as high as #21 in the NABC poll; GC was also ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Southeast Regional rankings
    • Under Gainous, Georgia College had the second-best scoring defense in the Peach Belt and were fifth in scoring margin; the Bobcats also led the PBC in made three-pointers and were second in rebounding
    • Gainous earns his second PBC Herbert Greene Coach of the Year honor, he won it previously in 2016, sharing it with CSU’s Robert Moore

The All-Conference team is listed below, as selected by the league's head coaches.  Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.  Due to a tie in the voting, six players were named second-team All-Conference with four players on the third team.
