
Softball Player of the Week: Hannah Rose Corbin, Columbus State
Corbin was a force to be reckoned with for the Cougars this week. In six games, the senior went 8-for-13 at the plate with four home runs, 10 runs scored, eight RBIs and two doubles. Corbin was a perfect 4-for-4 on Monday, Feb. 13. Against Montevallo, she went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, a three-run home run and an RBI double to lead the Cougars. Later that day against Tuskegee, she went 2-for-2 again with two home runs, four runs scored, two RBIs and walked twice. On Saturday against King, the Clanton, Ala., native jacked a two-run home run over the left-center field fence to give the Cougars an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. She was 1-for-2 that game. Closing the weekend out, Corbin went 3-for-5 on Sunday vs. Tusculum. Corbin was 1-for-3 in game one, and she was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in the game two victory. Corbin is currently batting .600 and leads the PBC in batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, OPS, and is tied for first in walks.

Softball Pitcher of the Week: Kristen Davis, North Georgia
Davis pitched 10.2 innings over two starts last week, allowing a total of two hits and three walks while striking out 20. The junior from Calhoun, Ga., got the win in her first start against UNC Pembroke, allowing one hit over 3.2 innings with no walks and eight strikeouts. She gave up a single to the first batter of the game, then retired the next 11 batters in a row before leaving the game with an 11-0 lead. She also won her second start, going seven innings against Lake Erie with one hit allowed, three walks and 12 strikeouts. After allowing the hit in the first inning, she retired 10 in a row and struck out the side in the seventh. She held batters to a .057 average and has not allowed an earned run in her last 14.2 innings pitched. Davis is currently third in the PBC in opponent batting average, sixth in strikeouts and ninth in ERA.

Softball Freshman of the Week: Marycille Brumby, North Georgia
Brumby saw action in all six Nighthawk games last week, hitting .462 with four doubles, a .769 slugging percentage, three runs scored and two RBIs. The freshman infielder from Cedartown, Ga., doubled in her first game against Florida Southern, then was 2-for-3 with two doubles against King and 2-for-2 with another double against UNC Pembroke. She drew a walk for a .500 on-base percentage and 1.269 OPS. She also had no errors in 14 chances in the field at shortstop and first base. Brumby is hitting .400 on the season with a .667 slugging percentage.
