AUGUSTA, GA -- Following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday, the Peach Belt Conference has announced the bracket for the 2023 Conference Tournament. The event brings the top eight teams in the standings together, beginning with four quarterfinal matches on Wednesday, March 1. Semifinals will be held on Thursday, March 2, with the championship game on Saturday, March 4. The event will be hosted for the first time by top-seeded Georgia Southwestern State University with all contests begin played in the Storm Dome in Americus, Ga.
GSW locked up the top seed and tournament hosting duties last week. Ranked #19 in the nation by the WBCA and #3 in the NCAA Southeast Region, the Hurricanes will be seeking their first-ever conference tournament title.
Clayton State will be the #2 seed in the tournament. The Lakers finished in a tie with USC Aiken at 12-6 in conference play after both won their regular-season finales on Saturday. The two split their regular-season meetings, but Clayton State takes the tiebreak thanks to a season sweep of GSW. USC Aiken will be the #3 seed.
North Georgia and Augusta finished in a tie for fourth at 10-8 in conference play. The two teams split their regular-season meetings but UNG takes the seed thanks to a win over Georgia Southwestern. Augusta will be the #5 seed and the two will meet in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Columbus State and Young Harris were tied at 9-9 for the sixth seed and also split their regular-season matchups. Young Harris takes the seed after beating Georgia Southwestern by one point on Saturday. Columbus State will be the #7 seed and Georgia College & State University the #8.
