AUGUSTA, Ga - the No. 10 Augusta University men's basketball team advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament after an 83-74 victory over Emmanuel College. The No. 1 seed Jags snapped a 15-game win streak for the No. 8 seed Lions.
Augusta is now 27-5 for the season. The Jaguars are set to take on rival USC Aiken Sunday March 11 at 7:30pm.

Augusta took an early 8-0 lead over Emmanuel after three pointers by Ja'Queze Kirby and Miguel Arnold, and a layup in traffic by Tyshaun Crawford. Augusta carried the lead through the majority of the first half with a feed from Demitri Gardner to Crawford giving AU a 28-20 lead. Miguel Arnold closed the first half with a deep three-pointer right before the buzzer to give Au a 40-30 lead over Emmanuel at halftime.
Augusta would lead comfortably for the majority of the second half. A three-pointer from Kirby gave AU a 65-49 lead with a 7:35 remaining in the game. Emmanuel gave a valiant comeback effort, cutting the lead to four with a minute left to play, but Augusta would hold on for the first-round NCAA tournament victory.
Tyshaun Crawford led Augusta with 29 points, Ja'Queze Kirby scored 20 and Miguel Arnold added 1. Darren Lucas-White proved to be the game-changer, keeping KJ Jones (DII's leading scorer) in check with constant defensive
pressure.
