Softball Player of the Week: Zoe Willis, Georgia Southwestern

Willis finished the season on a tear, hitting .520 with a 1.200 slugging percentage in GSW's final eight regular-season games. The junior from Pine Mountain, Ga., collected at least one hit in every game with multiple hits four times. She hit five home runs, four against conference opponents, with 15 RBIs. She went 2-for-3 with two home runs, including a grand slam, with seven RBIs against USC Aiken. That is tied for the most RBIs in a single game in the PBC this season. Willis leads the PBC and NCAA Division II with 23 home runs on the season, that is the second-highest single-season total in PBC history and she is three shy of the conference record with the postseason yet to play. She also leads the league and is second in NCAA DII with 61 RBIs and leads the nation in slugging percentage.

Softball Pitcher of the Week: Hannah Rose Corbin, Columbus State

Corbin pitched 13.1 innings in three games last week, getting two wins and a save. The senior from Clanton, Ala., gave up 12 total hits and five earned runs while striking out 15. She pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout over Shorter, striking out four. She then struck out 10 over seven innings in a win over Young Harris. She finished with 1.1 innings of relief against the Mountain Lions with a strikeout. Corbin leads the PBC and is 10th in NCAA Division II in strikeouts and her 767 career strikeouts is ninth on the PBC all-time list. She is also currently second in the PBC in innings, seventh in ERA and leads the conference with 20 victories.

Softball Freshman of the Week: Kamryn Akins, Lander

Akins pitched a complete-game shutout at #2 North Georgia. The freshman from Union, S.C., allowed only four hits as Lander broke a 35-game losing streak to UNG and gave the Nighthawks their first shutout loss since April 16, 2022. She retired the side in order twice and only one UNG baserunner reached third base. Akins made her longest appearance of the season with her first career complete-game shutout, with two walks and three strikeouts. She improves to 3-3 on the season.
