Clayton State Men's Soccer Clinches Second Straight PBC Regular Season Title!

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team clinched their second straight Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Regular Season Championship on Wednesday evening as they defeated Georgia Southwestern, 4-1.  



 
The Lakers scored first in the first half.  In the 25th minute, Andree Jimenez set up Vic Delgado Miller who scored his fourth goal of the season.  The Lakers led, 1-0.  Camilo Velez, Alexis Iturria, and Hector Nieto all fired in shots down the stretch, but the Lakers only led, 1-0, at the half.  Mauricio Uribe notched one save in the half. 
 
Halftime: Clayton State 1, GSW 0
 
The Hurricanes applied pressure to Uribe in the first moments of the second half and the Lakers still led, 1-0.  Clayton State then extended its lead.  In the 68th minute, Velez passed the ball to Alex Rodriguez who finished for the goal making the score, 2-0.  Rodriguez scored his eighth goal of the season.  The Hurricanes cut the Laker lead in half moments later and made the score, 2-1.  The Lakers then extended their lead in the 74th minute.  Off a pass from Fallah Johnson, Delgado Miller scored his second goal of the match and moved the score to 3-1. 
 
Clayton State added a late goal in the 89th by Iturria and went onto defeat Georgia Southwestern, 4-1.
