DECATUR, Ga. – Former Clayton State University women's soccer head coach Gareth O'Sullivan is set to launch a new women's soccer semi-pro team named Decatur FC as announced by Decaturish.com. This team will feature collegiate players from around the country.
Decatur FC will kick off its inaugural season on May 24
th and will play their home games out of Decatur HS. O'Sullivan's team will be playing in the Women's Premier Soccer League and will play an eight-game regular season with the potential for playoffs. The season will run from May to July and the team will play five home games. O'Sullivan was reportedly hired Decatur resident Campbell Chapman as the squad's head coach.
The team will play teams from all over the Southeast Region including teams from Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. All games will be live streamed and ticket information will be announced closer to the start of the season in May.
Coach O'Sullivan coached Clayton State from 2011-15 where he boasted a record of 53-33-11 and went 30-16-8 in the Peach Belt Conference. In 2013, O'Sullivan's Lakers won the Regular Season and Tournament Peach Belt titles and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. That is also the last time the Lakers made the NCAA Tournament.
