PBC Women's Soccer Semifinals Recap

The Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Semi Finals proved to be just as close as expected, with 2-1 being the score of the day. #3 Columbus State upset #2 Lander following two early goals, while #1 North Georgia knocked off #5 Flagler. The PBC Women's Soccer Championship game is set for 4:00pm on Saturday, November 15th in Dahlonega, Georgia.

NO. 8 NIGHTHAWKS MARCH INTO PBC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 2-1 WIN OVER FLAGLER

 -  Chloe Diaz scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute and No. 8 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's soccer team controlled the second half to march past Flagler 2-1 on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park.

UNG (18-1-1) struck first in the 11th minute when Grace McGill buried a chance in traffic the box for a 1-0 lead. Flagler (10-8-3) equalized in the 30th minute on a finish from Paige Churchill off a pass from Presley Ancheta. The Nighthawks outshot the Saints 26-9, including a decisive 17-2 margin after halftime, and generated steady pressure before finally breaking through. Diaz tapped in the winner off a cross from Nina Lopez, with McGill also credited with an assist. Goalkeeper Isabelle Lee made one save for UNG, which allowed just two shots on goal. Phoebe Carpenter finished with nine saves for Flagler.

North Georgia advances to host the PBC Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m. against third-seeded Columbus State. CSU advanced to the final with a 2-1 road win at second-seeded Lander.

FAST START SENDS THE COUGARS TO PEACH BELT CHAMPIONSHIP

 The Columbus State Women's Soccer team (13-5-1) is championship-bound. The Cougars went on the road Wednesday evening and knocked off Lander University (12-3-2) 2–1 in a gritty Peach Belt Conference Semifinal battle at Van Taylor Stadium, earning their spot in Saturday's Peach Belt Conference Championship game.

Columbus State wasted zero time setting the tone. Just 71 seconds into the match, defender Skye Tumbelty pounced on a loose ball in the box and buried the opener, thanks to a clean assist from Sarah Hungerford, giving the Cougars a 1–0 lead before most fans even sat down.  The early pressure continued, and in the 11th minute, Michelle Medina doubled the advantage with her eighth goal of the season, putting Columbus State firmly in control at 2–0. The Cougars generated steady pressure throughout the opening stretch, building early momentum that proved crucial. Lander fought back late in the half and pulled within one in the 32nd minute on a strike from Peyton Bibbee, but Columbus State's defense and goalkeeper Heidi Harris tallied four saves and held strong the rest of the way. 

The Cougars will face North Georgia in the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Championship game on Saturday, November 15, in Dahlonega, Ga., at 4:00 p.m. ET.
