PBC Announces Women's Basketball All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, GA -- The Peach Belt Conference has announced the 2024-25 women's basketball All-Conference team and postseason awards. North Georgia's Caroline Martin was named the PBC Player of the Year with her coach Buffie Burson the Coach of the Year. Columbus State's Olonna Rawls was named the Defensive Player of the Year with Augusta's Quinasia Abercrombie the Freshman of the Year. Lander's Abby Carter was named the winner of the Elite 18 Award presented by Barnes & Noble College.

Martin becomes the seventh player in PBC history to be named All-Conference four times. The 2021 PBC Freshman of the Year, the senior from Cumming, Ga., led the team and is ranked third in the league in scoring with 17.0 points per game. She is also third in the league in field goal percentage, sixth in free-throw percentage, eighth in assists and ninth in steals. Her 1,718 career points are currently 13th on the PBC's all-time scoring list. Martin is the fifth different Nighthawk to be named the Player of the Year, the first since Julianne Sutton won her second in 2022.

Rawls led the PBC in steals in 2024-25 and was a key factor behind CSU's 9.00 turnover margin, sixth-best in NCAA Division II. A graduate student guard from Pembroke, Ga., she was also fourth in the league in rebounding, starting all 26 CSU games this season. Rawls 289 career steals is currently tied for 12th on the PBC all-time list. She becomes the third Cougar to be named the Defensive Player of the Year, the first since Alexis Carter in 2017.

Abercrombie started in all 28 games for the Jaguars in her first collegiate season, leading the team and ranked 17th in the PBC in scoring. The guard from Greenville, S.C., is also seventh in the league in rebounding and 15th in steals. She had six double-doubles on the season and was named the PBC Player of the Week on Dec. 9. She becomes the third Jaguar to be named the Freshman of the Year, the first since Asia Harrison in 2019.

Buffie Burson became the PBC's all-time winningest women's basketball coach this season as she guided the Nighthawks to the PBC regular-season championship, the #1 seed for the conference tournament, top seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional and a #7 national ranking. Her 2024-25 team is 26-2 overall heading into the postseason giving her 25 or more wins five times in the last eight seasons. Burson earns her fifth PBC Coach of the Year honor, the most for women's basketball in league history.
