Peach Belt Unveils Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, GA -- The Peach Belt Conference has unveiled the 2025 men's tennis All-Conference team. Flagler's Simon Malis was named the PBC Player of the Year while his coach Jonas Piibor was named the Coach of the Year. Lander's Harry Pugh was named the Freshman of the Year with his teammate Ludvig Danielsson named the winner of the Elite 18 Award.

The Elite 18 is presented by Barnes & Noble College while the other major awards are presented by College Ave.

A sophomore from Ostrava, Czech Republic, Malis becomes the eighth PBC men's tennis player to be named the Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in their career. He played at three different singles spots during the season with a 21-4 overall record, 15-2 in dual matches and 4-1 in conference matches. He was 5-1 at #1 singles and 6-0 at #2 and 4-0 against nationally-ranked opponents. Ranked #29 in the nation in singles he is also ranked #24 in doubles with partner Aniss Rafiq. Malis is the third Flagler player to be named the Player of the Year and the second in a row after teammate Baptiste Mercier last season.

Pugh played in 16 of 17 dual matches this spring in his first collegiate season. The native of Greymouth, New Zealand, was 13-3 overall and 11-3 playing #1 singles. He was 4-1 in conference matches, all at #1 singles, and beat four members of this All-Conference team. He was 11-5 overall in doubles, splitting time between #1 and #2, with an 11-4 record with partner Brendan Jayaprakash, earning second-team All-Conference honors. Pugh becomes the first Lander player to be named the Freshman of the Year since Joakim Karlsson in 2006.

Jonas Piibor has guided Flagler to their third PBC regular-season championship in the last four years. In his fourth year with the Saints, Piibor's team is the #1 seed for the upcoming PBC Tournament, which they won as a program for the first time last year. Ranked #4 in the nation, Flagler was a perfect 5-0 in league play for the second year in a row and have lost only one conference match in the four years he has been the coach. Piibor receives the Coach of the Year honor for the third time.\
