PBC Volleyball Season Preview

Defending Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Champions, Lander University, have been selected as favorites for the 2025 season. The Bearcats received four first place votes from the league’s coaches, with Augusta and Flagler receiving one a piece. USCA, GCSU and Middle Georgia round out the voting. Salem joins the PBC as an associate member and will only participate in the PBC Tournament, not the regular season and is not eligible for the preseason poll. 

Lander experienced a historical season of firsts in 2024. The PBC Regular Season title was the first of its kind for the Bearcats who secured it outright on the final day of the season. They also hosted the PBC Tournament as the #1 seed for the first time in program history. Katie Miller was named PBC Player of the Year, the first Lander player to receive the honor. The Bearcats received the #2 seed in the NCAA Southeast Region, their highest seeding, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history. The Bearcats ended their season in the Southeast Region Final, closing out the year with a 22-6 record. For 2025, 1st year head coach Kathryn Settle returns ten players from last years team including PBC Player of the Year Katie Miller and PBC co-Freshman of the Year Karson Browning. 

Augusta entered the 2024 season as favorites, following two regular season titles in a row. The Jaguars finished the regular season tied for third but made their mark in the PBC tournament knocking of regular season champions Lander in the semifinals before falling to Flagler in the final. The Jaguars received the #4 seed in the NCAA Southeast region and dominated the first round with a 3-0 victory. The Jaguars fell to #1 Wingate in the Southeast Region semifinals to end their season with a 22-8 record. Augusta volleyball boasts a new look for the 2025 season, with 11 new additions to their roster featuring five Division I transfers, one Division II transfer, three international signees, and two true freshmen. 

Flagler joins Augusta with one first place vote, as the Saint enter 2025 at the helm of the 2024 PBC Coach of the Year, Jeff Reynolds. The Saint come into 2025 as reigning PBC Tournament Champions, having finished second in the PBC regular season. Flagler earned the #3 seed in the NCAA Southeast region where they swept Anderson in round one. The Saints’ season ended in the NCAA Southeast Region semifinals in a five-set loss to Lander.  The Saints brings in eight additions to the roster for 2025 to join a returning squad of seven.
