Embry-Riddle Claims PBC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA -- The Embry-Riddle women's track & field team won their eight straight Peach Belt Conference women's Track & Field Championship on Saturday in Daytona Beach. The Eagles dominated, scoring more than double any other team in the field with 289 total points in the event. Augusta was second at 107 followed by Clayton State and Flagler tied for third. 

ERAU freshman Alexandra Baltazar Hall won the shot put by a full meter, throwing 12.74m to claim the event. She followed that up with a second win in the discus, throwing 46.90m. Baltazar-Hall was named the Athlete of the Year, the Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year and the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year.

Augusta freshman Gabrielle Jourdain was named Peach Belt Conference Freshman Track Athlete of the Year following a standout weekend. Jourdain won the 5,000 meters in 17:38.17 and added a runner-up finish in the 10,000 meters (37:13.64). 

Clayton State's Destiny Hanna was named PBC Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year. Hanna broke the school record in the 100m dash as well finishing with a time of 11.85.  She was the only runner in the prelims to go sub 12 seconds. Hanna then closed out her impressive meet as she was crowned the conference champion in both the 100m dash with a time of 11.67 and 200m dash with a time of 24.89. Destiny was the only runner to go sub 25 seconds in the race.
