FRISCO, Texas – Isabel Ewers was announced today the recipient of the 2025-26 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II Kim Moore Spirit Award. Ewers is the first Bearcat in Lander women's golf history to earn the honor, which has been awarded every year since 2005.
This award is dedicated to Kim Moore, who played golf for the University of Indianapolis (1999-2003). Kim was an inspiration to all as she persevered through many physical challenges while playing collegiate golf. She has continued to leave her mark on the game, winning the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in 2022. Her positive outlook and dedication are only out done by her sense of humor and passion for the game.
The purpose of the award is to recognize and honor a student-athlete or coach who exemplifies a great spirit toward the game of golf, a positive attitude on and off the golf course, a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges. The annual award is presented separately to recipients in Division I, II, and III.
Ewers' collegiate career has been marked by perseverance through significant setbacks. After a shoulder injury sidelined her for much of her freshman season and a separate injury limited her competition during her sophomore year, she remained committed to her team and continued to excel in the classroom, maintaining a 4.00 GPA while supporting her teammates.
Since returning to full competition in the 2025-26 season, Ewers has helped lead Lander to a top-10 national ranking while earning Second Team All-Peach Belt Conference honors with a 74.0 scoring average. A positive influence within the program, she serves as the Lander Women's Golf representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and will serve as a team captain during the 2026 fall season. Her leadership, resilience, and commitment to her teammates have made a lasting impact on the program.
