Dr. Santiago Pinzon enters his first year as Deputy Commissioner of the Peach Belt Conference. 

Pinzon joins the league from Troy University, where he worked for the past 11 years, most recently in the role of Senior Associate Director of Athletics/ Compliance & Student-Athlete Success. During his time with the Trojans, Pinzon was responsible for all aspects of compliance, including the planning, development and implementation of in-service training, staff development and rules education for institutional administrators, athletics staff, coaches, student-athletes, and boosters. He served as the liaison between the Athletics Department and the Troy Admissions, Financial Aid, International and Records Offices, as well as the Sun Belt Conference and the NCAA. Additionally, he oversaw the Office of Student-Athlete Services, the SAAC, the Like-Skills programs and served as the sport administrator for the soccer team and as a secondary contact for the men’s basketball program.

Pinzon had a prior stint at Troy University as a graduate assistant, where he gained experience in compliance, game & special event operations. He was also accepted for a Fellowship with the Sun Belt Conference January of 2012 where he served as a coaches’ liaison at the conference level for the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament. Pinzon also served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations at Lake Erie College. Additionally, Pinzon has experience working at the IMG Soccer Academy as the primary contact for the USA Women’s u20 National Team, and with Conference Carolinas, where his role was focused on compliance and SAAC initiatives.

As a North Georgia College & State University (now University of North Georgia) student-athlete, Pinzon gained experience as SAAC President, and a PBC SAAC member. He also made multiple appearances on the Dean’s List & PBC Presidential Honor Roll while being a four-year letterman on the soccer team as a midfielder and received the North Georgia Department of Athletics All-Academic Award in 2007. 

Pinzon earned his bachelor’s degree from North Georgia in 2010 in marketing, a Master of Science degree in Sport and Fitness Management from Troy in 2013 and most recently earned his PhD in Sport Management from Troy in May 2025. The Cali, Colombia native makes the move to the CSRA with his wife Mina.
