David Brunk is entering his 17th year as commissioner of the Peach Belt Conference.
Brunk's leadership has resulted in many exciting changes for the league. He has established a highly successful corporate partner program, led the PBC to new endeavors in community engagement, outreach and charitable giving and initiated a rebranding campaign for the conference among the countless other initiatives designed to benefit the student-athletes and membership. Brunk has overseen a restructuring of the league's championship formats and established several new championship sport offerings, enhancing the experience of PBC student-athletes. Brunk has most recently provided visionary leadership as the PBC expanded to 18 championship sports - its most ever - with the addtion of men's and women's indoor track & field. He also continued to enhance the growth of the league with the announcement of Middle Georgia State University as a potential member pending acceptance into NCAA Division II.
Brunk began his career in intercollegiate athletics at Morehead State University and worked at the NCAA national office in Overland Park, KS for eight years before leaving to become commissioner of the Northeast-10 Conference just prior to the NCAA's move to Indianapolis.
Prior to his involvement in intercollegiate athletics, Brunk owned and operated several minor league baseball franchises for the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He garnered numerous awards for overall business and marketing/promotional excellence.
Brunk, past president of the D2 Conference Commissioners Association, has been highly involved within the NCAA committee structure having served and chaired many DII and association-wide committees while locally serving on the boards of the YMCA and Augusta Sports Council.
Brunk is a graduate of Ball State University and holds a Master's degree in Sports Science and Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy. He and his wife, Brenda, have two daughters and are proud grandparents of two.
