Clayton State's Blackstock Named National Player of the Week

Langston scored five goals in the final three regular season matches for the Lakers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday afternoon that Clayton State University men's soccer forward Langston Blackstock was named the National Player of the Week.  This is the first time a Laker has been selected for this award since Alexis Iturria on September 22nd, 2021. 
 
Blackstock had an incredible ending to the regular season for the Lakers.  In the 6-2 victory against USC Aiken, Langston notched two goals and added an assist.  In the 4-2 victory over Young Harris, Blackstock added another pair of goals and tallied an assist.  The Laker forward also added a goal in the 3-3 draw against Lander in the resumed game on Monday. 
 
This season, Blackstock is tied for third in the country with 15 goals and is eighth in the nation with 34 points.  Also, Langston has tallied four assists, which is tied for second on the team. 
 
The Lakers play the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia in the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, October 28th.  Kickoff from Saint Augustine, Fla. is set for 2 p.m.  For more information regarding the PBC Tournament, please visit claytonstatesports.com!
