Nighthawks Defeat Georgia College, Move on to PBC Semifinals

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The third-seeded University of North Georgia women's soccer team defeated sixth-seeded Georgia College in their Peach Belt Conference tournament quarterfinal game as Abbie Crane scored twice to help send the Nighthawks into the next round.

Crane kicked off the scoring in the 10th minute, Georgia College would answer with the equalizer in the 15th minute. Both teams would head into the halftime break tied at 1-1. In the 49th minute, Maysoon El-Shami would retake the lead early in the second half. Grace Morgan followed suit in the 64th minute scoring her second goal of the season.

A 69th-minute goal by Georgia College would bring the North Georgia lead back to just one, but Crane finished what she started and put the final touch on a PBC quarterfinal win with a goal off an assist from El-Shami and Katey Derkay in the 71st minute.

Next Up
North Georgia will face second-seeded Flagler in the PBC semifinals on Saturday (Oct. 29) at 1:00 pm. Flagler won the first matchup between the teams this season 4-2. The host Saints advanced to quarterfinal play with a 2-1 double overtime victory over seventh-seeded Young Harris.
