WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – Two Peach Belt Conference men’s lacrosse players were a part of team Canada’s gold medal win at the World Junior Lacrosse Championships which concluded in Winnipeg over the weekend. Montevallo’s Jackson Klewchuk and incoming Lander freshman Jeremy Wudrick each contributed to Canada’s 16-9 victory over Haudenosaunee in the final.
Klewchuk, a junior midfielder from Winnipeg, scored four goals with five assists in the two games of the round-robin stage and another four goals with three assists in the bracket stage. He scored twice with an assist in the championship game, including Canada’s third goal which put the team ahead for the first time.
Wudrick will begin his collegiate career at Lander University this fall and play his first PBC season next spring. A forward from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he scored five goals with five assists in two games of the round robin, then had a goal and two assists against Israel in the bracket semifinals with another assist in the championship game.
