LOUISVILLE, KY -- Riding a 26-game winning streak, the University of North Georgia softball team was ranked the #1 team in the nation in the lates Division II Top 25 Coaches poll from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The 27-1 Nighthawks have been ranked in the top five all season long but moved from #2 to #1 following sweeps of Barry and Christian Brothers last week, coupled with a loss by previous #1 Rogers State. North Georgia is one of two teams ranked in the poll with only one loss on the season and have the best team winning percentage in Division II.
UNG was previously the #1 team in the NFCA poll for three weeks of the 2021 season.
The Nighthawks host Georgia Southwestern State for a three-game series starting on Saturday.
