ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College head volleyball coach Skylar Lopas has announced that he has stepped down to accept an assistant coach position at The Ohio State University.
"Reflecting on my time at Flagler College, I am grateful for the invaluable opportunity entrusted to me by Mr. Damon and Matt Green," said Lopas. "I extend my appreciation to the entire athletic department for their unwavering support and love. The friendships made during this time will be cherished.
"My gratitude also extends to my exceptional team and staff. Your dedication and belief in our collective efforts were key to our success. These past seasons have been the most fulfilling of my career, and I am deeply thankful to have shared them with such a remarkable group of individuals."
In his three years, Lopas achieved an overall record of 43-40 and a Peach Belt Conference mark of 18-17, which includes a pair of conference tournament titles (2022 and 2024) and two NCAA Division II Southeast Regional appearances. He coached 10 players to all-conference honors, one player (Kennedy Muff) to PBC Setter of the Year honors, five more earned AVCA all-region honors, and three were honorable mention All-America.
"Coach Lopas did a very good job as our head coach the last three seasons," said Jud Damon, Flagler's director of athletics. "Beyond the conference tournament championships and the NCAA tournament appearances, he has made a positive difference in the lives of our student-athletes and our organizational culture. He will be missed and we wish him great success."
A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
