Saints down the Eagles to advance in regional

WINGATE, N.C. - The Flagler College volleyball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Southeast Regional for the second consecutive season after defeating Carson Newman University 3-1 (15-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-22) this evening at Cuddy Arena & Thomas Koontz Family Court. Both #6 Augusta and #7 Lander ended their season earlier this afternoon with 3-1 losses in the first round. 

The Saints added onto their now four win streak to improve their record to 22-12, their most wins in one season since 2019. The Eagles fell to 24-6. The Saints will face the regional host, No. 14 Wingate University tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Leading the charge was Marley Middlebrooks who put up her second consecutive 20 kill match and was one dig away from registering a double-double. Clare Sheedy was one of two players to notch a double-double as she found 47 assists and 10 digs. Matching Sheedy in digs was Cassidy Bloom but Caity Clancy finished off as the team leader, finding 12. Katherine Rank finished with a .500 hitting percentage with her 13 kills while also posting a tying a match high four blocks. Gracie Fleming matched Ranks blocks while also earning eight kills.

Blair Cherry ran the Eagles offense and defense with her 31 assist, match high 18 dig double-double. Emerson Ahsmuhs put up a team high 12 kills while Raychel Ehlers found 10. Bella Cardello tied for a match high four blocks.
 

Augusta volleyball closed its 2025 season Thursday with a 3–1 loss to Anderson in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional at Wingate's Cuddy Arena. The Jaguars finish the year 25–9 after earning their eighth NCAA Tournament berth in program history and securing the 2025 Peach Belt Conference regular season co-championship. Anderson took the first two sets 25–18 and 25–14 before Augusta responded with a 25–20 win in the third. The Trojans held off a late Augusta push in the fourth to secure the match 25–22.
 

The match caps a highly accomplished season for the Jaguars. Augusta secured the 2025 Peach Belt regular season co-championship. The Jaguars also earned multiple conference honors:



Lander volleyball's 2025 season came to a close Thursday afternoon as the Bearcats battled but ultimately fell 3-1 to No. 2-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at Cuddy Arena. Set scores were 25-23, 9-25, 25-27, 15-25.

Despite the loss, the Bearcats capped a strong season that included a 20-win campaign, a 10-5 mark in Peach Belt Conference play, an appearance in the PBC championship match, and a return to NCAA postseason action. Under first-year head coach Kathryn Settle, Lander continued to establish itself as a consistent regional contender, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year and earning multiple all-conference and all-region honors along the way.
