DAYTONA BEACH, FLA -- The Embry-Riddle women's track & field team staked themselves to a sizable lead following day one of the PBC Championships in Dayton Beach. The Eagles were led with a strong showing in the field events and finished the day with 122 points. Flagler is in second with 63.5 while Augusta is third with 40 and Lander fourth with 38. The event will conclude on Tuesday.
ERAU's Mkaela Miles set a meet record in the long jump with a 6.03 which she hit on her sixth and final attempt. The Eagles took the top four places in that event. Maxime Kirschner won the javelin with a throw of 44.54 while Megan Grant won the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.60m, Kristin Rolle won the hammer at 47.31m.
The Championships continue on Tuesday with nine track finals and three field finals along with the final of the decathlon. Competition begins at 8:30 am and a free live stream can be found at pbcsportsnetwork.com
