BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 3 (SCOREBOARD Division II ranking by clippd) Flagler College women's golf team finished in third place with a 13-under par 851 (281-291-279) to conclude the stroke play portion of the NCAA Division II National Championship Thursday afternoon at the Boulder Creek Golf Club's Desert Hawk Coyote Run course (par 72; 6,184 yards).
The top eight teams advance to the medal match play round, which starts tomorrow. Flagler is the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 seed West Texas A&M University in a quarterfinal match at 7:44 a.m. (PDT).
Henriette Stranda finished in a tie for 13
th place with a 3-under 213 (69-72-72). She recorded 10 birdies and 38 pars. Stella Jelinek fired a 5-under 67 in the final round that helped her jump 23 spots and finish in a tie for 21
st place with a 2-under 214 (70-77-67).
Finishing atop the 18-team field was No. 4 Dallas Baptist University. The Patriots trailed by three strokes going into the day and won by three strokes. Dallas Baptist carded an 18-under 846 (285-282-279). No. 8 Cal State University San Marcos finished in second place with a 15-under 849 (280-284-285). No. 5 University of Findlay followed Flagler in fourth place with a 12-under 852 (288-285-279). Top-ranked Anderson University dropped to fifth place with a 10-under 854 (280-289-285).
Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos topped the 94-woman field with a 14-under 202 (69-64-69). Gracie Grant of Dallas Baptist finished in second place with an 11-under 205 (73-66-66). Anna Nomrowski of West Texas A&M University finished third with a 9-under 207 (68-70-69). Three more golfers are tied for fourth place with an 8-under 208.
Jordyn Hodgson of Flagler tied for 25
th place with a 1-under 215 (71-72-72), which tied her career-best score for three rounds. Tabitha Hanely finished in 32
nd place with an even par 216 (78-70-68), which was a career-best 54-hole score for Hanely and her final round 4-under 68 was a career-best score for a single round, which allowed her to jump 20 spots. Victoria Veator tied for 49
th place with a 4-over 220 (71-77-72), which was a career-best score for a 54-hole tournament. Her first round 1-under 71 was a career-best round.
Lander's Kajsa Lindqvist, playing as an individual, shot a lights-out seven-under 65 to jump 11 places on the leaderboard into a tie for fourth. Lindqvist finishes her tournament 70-73-65=208 (-8). On Thursday she was flawless with seven birdies and no bogeys on her round. She birdied the second and third holes on the way to a front-nine 32, then had three more birdies on the back for a 33. Lindqvist had only three bogeys in all three rounds combined; her 40 pars were second-most in the field and her three bogeys second-fewest.
