Flagler's John Jordan Named Recipient of CSC 25-Year Award

Flagler College Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Communications, John Jordan, was named as a recipient of the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) 25-Year Award. The CSC 25-Year Award is presented to members who have completed 25 years in the athletics communications profession. The nominations are vetted and voted on by the Special Awards Committee. Jordan will be honored during the CSC Unite Convention at the Special Awards Luncheon on June 10th in Las Vegas, NV. CSC Special Awards honorees are announced and recognized in the months leading up to the convention.

"I have to thank Dean Watson for getting me started in this field at Florida Tech and to Brent Rutkowski and his staff for being exemplary mentors at Central Connecticut. I would not be where I am today without either of those two men. I thank Flagler College for letting me extend my career for the past 21 years." — John Jordan, 2026 CSC 25-Year Award recipient

John Jordan, a native of Orono, Maine, is a graduate of Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine. Not long after graduating from St. Joe's, Jordan went on to work as an assistant sports information director at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne before moving on to work in the same capacity at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain for one year.

Jordan started his first head SID role at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. There, he served for two years as the school's SID and as the media coordinator for the NAIA World Series. Following his two-year stint in Idaho, he moved back to Maine to serve as interim SID at Bates College in Lewiston. Jordan returned to Florida where he served two years as sports information director at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach.

Jordan moved upstate to St. Augustine where he is in his 21st year as SID at Flagler College. Jordan oversees all media relations regarding Flagler athletics. In his time at Flagler, he has helped launch the school’s athletic web site, www.flaglerathletics.com, as well as the department's Facebook and Twitter pages. Jordan has also helped cover the Peach Belt Conference men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf, volleyball, baseball, men's basketball, softball and men's lacrosse championships. In the spring of 2023 and 2024, he helped host the Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Jordan currently serves as an Academic All-America® Coordinator of Publicity and has served on the ballot review team. Prior to this role, he sat on the board which selects the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America® district teams. Jordan was the coordinator of the Daktronics Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region teams and serves on the NCBWA Southeast Region ranking committee. Jordan is a member of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for women's golf. He served as the chair of the Peach Belt Conference sports information directors (2019-22).

Chad Jackson, Georgia Southern University Director of Athletics Communications, past CSC 25-Year Award recipient: "I have had the pleasure of working with John for the majority of my time as an SID and his professionalism and dedication to the athletics communications field is second to none. He is always willing to share his expertise with others and continues to be a valuable resource to myself and my colleagues across the industry."

Dom Donnelly, Tusculum University Associate Athletic Director for Communications, past CSC 25-Year Award recipient: “John Jordan is one of the best in the business and I’m proud to call him my friend. Not only is he a professional and takes pride in everything he does, he has a personality that is infectious. It was a pleasure to serve with him on the Academic All-America committee and when our paths have crossed over the years, including our first meeting on the way to St. Louis for the CSC/CoSIDA Convention. Congratulations on this honor John. It is so well deserved.”

Brent Hager, University of South Carolina Aiken Assistant Athletic Director: “John has been one of a kind since I first met him in 2013. As he's grown to be one of my best friends in the industry, he's also one of my best friends outside of work. John has helped guide numerous students and interns in the industry and cares about the little things with the job. He's quick to assist on a scoring decision or give input when needed on bigger problems. John's also been someone to lean on and help others when they need support. As many people as I've dealt with in 24 years in the industry, John is always one of the first couple that I'll call about any issue, problem or celebratory instance. He's someone that should be recognized for not only his longevity, but also for his ability to be at the forefront of everything that we have to deal with. I couldn't ask for someone better to call a colleague and friend.”
