USC Aiken Claims PBC League of Legends Championship
GREENWOOD, SC – USC Aiken won their first Peach Belt Conference League of Legends Championship on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Columbus State. The Pacers, seeded #1 in the tournament, take the title and, along with CSU, advance to the College League of Legends national playoffs beginning this week.
The Pacers were unblemished in three matches at the tournament, opening with a 2-0 win over Young Harris in the quarterfinals and following that with a 2-0 win over Augusta in the semifinals.
Columbus State was making their first appearance in the LoL Championship match.
The event was held in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium at Lander University.
USC Aiken and Columbus State also learned their opponents in the upcoming College Championship. 16 teams remain competing for the remaining four spots in the national finals, which will be held in Los Angeles in late May.
USCA and CSU will each play the other seven teams in their pools over the next two weekends. The two teams that win the pools will advance to the finals. The 2ndand 3rd-place teams in each pool will play one best-of-five match for the remaining two spots.
Columbus State will begin pool play against the University of Texas while USC Aiken faces N.C. State. The complete pool schedule can be found here.
