Flagler Wins 2018-19 PBC Commissioner's Cup

HILTON HEAD, SC – Flagler College was presented with the 2018-19 Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup at the league's annual awards dinner at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island on Tuesday.  The Cup is presented annually to the best overall athletic department based on regular-season standings and select championships.  Flagler captured 95.5 of a possible 125 points available to them based on the number of sports sponsored.  That resulted in a .764 rating which was .050 more than second-place Columbus State.

The award is the first for Flagler College.  Their .764 rating is the highest by any school since 2013.

Flagler captured PBC championships in women's cross country, men's golf and women's golf.  The Saints were also baseball co-Champions and finished among the league's top three in men's tennis, women's tennis, women's basketball, women's soccer and men's cross contry.

Columbus State has finished among the top two in the Commissioner's Cup standings for the 10th year in a row and won the cup in 2016 and 2018.  The Cougars won PBC titles in women's soccer, men's tennis and women's tennis this season.

North Georgia finished third in the Cup standings with a .691 rating, just .023 behind CSU.  The Nighthawks won the PBC women's basketball and softball championships, were co-champions in baseball and finished second in women's cross country.

The PBC Commissioner's Cup is determined by calculating the number of points possible to each school, given the number of sports they participate in, divided by the number of points earned during the year.  Points are determined by placement in the final regular-season standings in each of the PBC's 15 championship sports.
