Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Hunter Kimball, Augusta
Kimball set and NCAA provisional time in the 5000m at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The senior from Gray, Ga., covered the distance in 14:26.61, the fastest time in the PBC this season and a personal best. He finished third overall in the event with a field of 31 runners, the majority of whom were from Division I schools such as Georgia Tech, Mercer, Kennesaw State and others. He is the first PBC athlete to set a provisional mark in the 5k so far this season.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Tyler Southern, Columbus State
Southern brought home a win and an fourth-place finish at the Running Eagles Open, helping the Cougars to a meet win. The freshman took first place in the shot put with a toss of 13.00m, nearly a full meter further than his nearest competitor. He also placed fourth in the discus with a toss of 38.40m, setting a personal best.
