Peach Belt Releases Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Bracket

AUGUSTA, GA – With the conclusion of the first season of Peach Belt Conference men’s lacrosse, the league has released the bracket for this week’s PBC Tournament. The tournament will begin this Wednesday, April 28 with semifinals hosted by the higher seed. The two remaining teams will then meet for the championship game on Saturday, May 1, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Montevallo is the top seed in the inaugural tournament after going undefeated in league play with a 5-0 record. The Falcons, 8-4 overall on the season, will carry a seven-game winning streak into the PBC Tournament. UM leads the PBC in goals per game, assists per game and goals allowed average.

Alabama-Huntsville and Lander both finished the conference schedule with a .500 record following UAH’s win over Shorter in the season finale on Friday. The PBC tiebreaker system first examines the two teams’ record against each other and they split their two head-to-head meetings, each winning by one goal. The record against the top seed is the next step, but both fell to Montevallo in every match played; likewise both beat Shorter in every match played, eliminating the next step.

The final step in the tiebreak is in-conference goal differential against all conference opponents. This season, Alabama-Huntsville score 83 goals in PBC contests while allowing 62, a margin of +3.5 per game. Lander scored 48 goals, but also allowed 48 goals, giving the Bearcats a margin of 0.0. With that, UAH takes the #2 seed for the PBC Tournament and will host #3 Lander in the semifinal round on Wednesday.

Shorter is the #4 seed and will travel to Montevallo for the semifinals on Wednesday.
