NCAA Women's Tennis: UNG Flies By Erskine, 4-0

DAHLONEGA - The No. 17 University of North Georgia women's tennis team started off their postseason run with a 4-0 win over No. 48 Erskine Sunday afternoon in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Regional.

After a quick 6-1 defeat on the top singles line, North Georgia answered with a 6-2 win at No. 3 by Cibeles Zuddy and Claudelle Labonte Frey, setting up the doubles decider at No. 2 where Anna Markvartova and Annie Adams won, 6-4, to give UNG the early lead.

From there, the Nighthawks breezed through singles, starting with a Markvartova 6-1, 4-2 (ret.) win over her opponent on the second line. Zuddy took care of the third line with a 6-3, 6-2 win, finishing just seconds before Adams clinched the match on the fourth line, 6-3, 6-2.

North Georgia now advances to the semifinals tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. to take on top seeded and No. 8 Flagler at the UNG Tennis Complex.
