Women’s Soccer Player of the Week: Rachael Sweigard, Columbus State

Sweigard scored a pair of goals and helped on two more in two wins for No. 4 Columbus State last week. The graduate senior helped on the match-winner in CSU's 5-3 win over Young Harris on Wednesday. In fact, she was busy against the Mountain Lions, scoring a goal and picking up another assist in Columbus State's 11th straight win over YHC. It was the fourth four-point match for Sweigard this season. On Saturday, the South Lyon, Mich, native, put in the match-winner in the 2-0 Cougar win against Georgia College in a critical PBC tilt. The win extended CSU's unbeaten streak to nine matches. Sweigard is third in the PBC in goals (9), assists (4) and points (22). She is also tied for second with three game-winning goals.

Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week: Mackenzie Cochrane, USC Aiken

Cochrane led a Pacer defense that recorded back-to-back shutouts last week. The sophomore from Surfside Beach, Fla., held USC Beaufort, the second-highest scoring team in the PBC, to four shots on goal in handing the Sand Sharks only their second shutout of the year in a 1-0 win. USCA then held Georgia Southwestern to five shots on goal in a 2-0 shutout win. The Pacers extended their shutout streak to three games and have four shutouts in their last five matches. Cochrane also added an assist on the second goal against GSW, playing all 180 minutes last week. USC Aiken is currently fourth in the PBC with a 0.90 goals allowed average per game.

Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week: Kaydence Moore, USC Aiken

Moore posted back-to-back shutouts for USC Aiken last week, making nine total saves in the two wins combined. The sophomore from Caldwell, Idaho, played all 180 minutes of both games, starting with four saves against USC Beaufort, who entered the match as the second-highest scoring team in the PBC. She made an additional five saves in a shutout win over Georgia Southwestern, extending her scoreless streak to 225 consecutive minutes. Her efforts helped the Pacers to their fifth and sixth shutouts of the season, the most since 2006 and tying a school record.
