AUGUSTA, GA -- The Peach Belt Conference has announced the winners of the spring Team Sportsmanship Awards. North Georgia was the only PBC institution to claim two awards with the baseball and men's golf team honored. Columbus State won for women's golf with Georgia College & State University for men's tennis, Georgia Southwestern for women's tennis, Shorter for lacrosse and Augusta for softball.

Started in 2008, the program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. The team award is selected by other teams who compete in that sport. Points are awarded based on how each team finished in the voting and in June, the institution with the highest totals will receive the 'PBC Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.'

UNG wins the baseball award for the fourth year in a row, the longest current streak for any team in any sport. The Nighthawks men's golf team wins for the fifth time overall. The two awards boost UNG's all-time total to 29; tied with GCSU who reached that number with their third straight men's tennis award.

Augusta wins the softball award for the second time in the last four years, giving the school eight All-Time. Georgia Southwestern wins the women's tennis honor for the third straight year and the Hurricanes now have 23 all-time awards. CSU takes women's golf for the second straight season and boosts the department's all-time number to 10.
