Women's Golf

Golfer of the Week - Abby Franks, North Georgia (So., Roebuck, S.C.)

  • Tied for sixth place at The Patriot Invitational last week in Carmel, Calif.,...shot rounds of 71-78-72 on the par-71 Quail Lodge course
  • The sixth-place finish is tied for her best performance of the year and is her third top-10 of the season, all of which have come in her last five events
  • Helped the Nighthawks to a fourth-place team finish in the 15-team tournament...Franks is currently sixth in the PBC in stroke average and ranked #64 nationally by Scoreboard

Men's Golf

Golfer of the Week - Erik Rengardt, USC Beaufort (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden)

  • Finished in a tied for second at the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate, firing rounds of 70-68-71 to finish at seven-under 209
  • Finished two strokes out of the lead and helped the Sand Sharks to a second-place team finish in the field of 16 programs, five of them ranked in the top 25
  • Shot a bogey-free 68 in round two...led the tournament with a nine-under score on par-5s...had his fourth top-10 and third top-five result of the season

Softball

Player of the Week - Sydney Stewart, Flagler (Sr., SS, Fortson, Ga.)

  • Hit .500 with an .833 slugging percentage as Flagler wet 3-2 on the week with wins over #24 Barry and two-of-three against #8 North Georgia
  • Hit .636 in the three games against UNG with two home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored...went 3-for-4 in the opener with two RBIs and 4-for-5 in the third game with two homers and three RBIs
  • Leads the Peach Belt in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS and runs scored...is second in hits, RBIs, home runs and doubles

Pitcher of the Week - Tiffany Caban, Georgia College & State University (So., RHP, Evans, Ga.)

  • Threw a complete-game two-hit shutout against Lander in game two of their series as GCSU won 3-0
  • Walked two and struck out nine as she improved to 7-2 on the season...retired the side in order twice and only one baserunner made it to second base
  • Leads the Peach Belt in opponent batting average at .186...is second in the league in strikeouts and tied for seventh in wins

Freshman of the Week - Carleigh Knowles, North Georgia (Fr., C, Hawkinsville, Ga.)

  • Hit .421 with an .842 slugging percentage in five games last week...had two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs
  • Hit .500 in two wins over Wingate with a double, two home runs and four RBIs...doubled again in the opener at Flagler, driving in a run
  • Leads the Peach Belt with 38 RBIs on the season...also tied for second in the league in doubles and home runs, is third in slugging percentage and eighth in batting average

Baseball

Player of the Week - Kyle Robitzsch, North Georgia (So., OF, Kennesaw, Ga.)

  • Hit .727 in a three-game series against Lander, collecting eight hits in 11 at-bats with a double and eight RBIs
  • Drove in nearly 30% of UNG's runs on the weekend as they won two-of-three to sit atop the PBC standings...went 3-for-4 in the opener with two RBIs and 4-for-5 in game three with five RBIs
  • The five runs driven in is the most in a game by a player for UNG and is third-most in the PBC this year

Pitcher of the Week - Bradley Wilson, Georgia College & State University (Sr., RHP, Irwinton, Ga.)

  • Pitched eight shutout innings in an 8-0 win over Flagler, scattering eight hits with two walks while striking out two
  • Retired the first five batters he faced in order...also retired the side in order in the sixth
  • Improved to 5-1 on the season...is fourth in the PBC in ERA and innings pitched...ninth in opponent batting average and tied for third in wins

Freshman of the Week - Nicholas Stinson, North Georgia (Fr., 1b/RHP, Kennesaw, Ga.)

  • Wins his third weekly honor of the season after hitting .417 with three doubles and six RBIs in a series against Lander
  • Collected hits in all three games, going 2-for-4 in games one and two...doubled and drove in at least one run in all three games...had four RBIs in the second game
  • Currently fifth in the PBC with a .381 batting average and tied for fourth in the league in doubles

Women's Tennis

Player of the Week - Dana Heimen, Flagler (Jr., Ketsch, Germany)

  • Won all three of her singles matches against #7 Nebraska-Kearney, #12 Angelo State, #4 Embry-Riddle...Played and won against #9 Fabiana Gamboa and #24 Laura Cuesta Bret
  • In doubles with Anastasia Nikolova, defeated #6 Tanya Midzi and Narindra Ranaivo, #9 Avery Durham and Eva Shwartz and #41 Cuesta Bret and Cabero Del Hierro
  • Ranked #6 in the nation in singles and #24 in doubles...improved to 10-3 in dual match singles, all at #1...is 6-2 against nationally-ranked players..11-2 in dual match doubles

Men's Tennis

Player of the Week - Simon Malis, Flagler (So., Ostrava, Czech Republic)

  • Went undefeated in two singles and doubles matches against #33 Nebraska-Kearney and #6 Barry
  • Defeated #61 Adrian Constantin of Nebraska-Kearney 6-4, 6-2 and Gabriele Felline of Barry 3-6, 6-2, 6-4...partnered with Ilian Borlee to defeat the Barry team of Caill and Cavalleri 6-1
  • Currently ranked #69 in singles and #22 in doubles by the ITA...is 9-1 in dual match singles and 10-2 in doubles

Women's Track & Field

Track Athlete of the Week - Tymia Willis, Lander (So., Pendleton, S.C.)

  • Set a personal best and won the 400 at the Montreat College Open in a time of 58.20, beating a field of 11 runners
  • Her time is the second-fastest 400 run in the Peach Belt this season
  • Also ran the opening leg of the 4x400 relay as Lander finished in second place in 4:18.12, fifth-fastest in the conference

Field Athlete of the Week - Hailey Bruce, Embry-Riddle (So., Ormond Beach, Fla.)

  • Finished in third place in the javelin at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge with a throw of 43.46m on her final attempt...23 competitors in the field, most from NCAA Division I
  • Her throw is the longest in the Peach Belt this season and is the seventh-longest in NCAA Division II this season, breaking the provisional mark
  • Also owns the third-longest hammer throw in the PBC

Men's Track & Field

Track Athlete of the Week - Michael Balkman, Lander (Fr., Blythewood, S.C.)

  • Broke the program record in the 400 at the Montreat College Open with a time of 48.02..that is the fastest 400 run in the PBC this season and less than 4-tenths of a second off the NCAA provisional time
  • Won the event in a field of 27 runners, his first career collegiate outdoor win...won the 400 at the PBC indoor championships in February
  • Also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay team that finished third

Field Athlete of the Week - Antonio Caito, Embry-Riddle (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.)

  • Landed jumps of 15.50m, 15.32m and 15.45m at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge that rank first, second and third in program history
  • Finished third of 19 in the event that heavily featured Division I athletes...was only .25m out of first place
  • His jump of 15.50 is a Peach Belt Conference record, an ERAU program record and the third-longest in NCAA Division II so far this season

Men's Lacrosse

Offensive Player of the Week - Tyler Douglass, Flagler (Sr., Midfield, Jupiter, Fla.)

  • Scored the first two goals in #8 Flagler's 7-6 win over #14 Molloy...attempted two shots on goal, both of which went in
  • Added one ground ball
  • Currently 10th in the PBC in shots per game...Flagler improves to 10-1 on the season with four wins over ranked teams

Defensive Player of the Week - Ty Scheckenbach, Flagler (Fr., Defense, Centennial, Colo.)

  • Had three caused turnovers and three ground balls in Flagler's 7-6 win over #14 Molloy
  • Had a crucial check towards the late end of the fourth quarter to help the Saints avoid Molloy's comeback attempt
  • Flagler defense held Molloy to a season-low score...the Saints lead the PBC with 94 goals allowed and an 8.49 goals against average
