BASEBALL
Player of the Week
Luke Boone, GCSU
Junior, Outfielder
  • Helped GCSU to a 2-2 record on the week
  • Had a .474 batting average, .684 slugging percentage and .500 on base percentage for the week
  • Posted 9 hits, 8 RBI’s and scored 2 runs for the week
  • Boone hit four doubles on the week and went 2-for-2 in stolen bases
  • On the season, Boone has a .297 batting average, .508 slugging percentage and .341 on base percentage 
Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Duval, North Georgia
Junior, Pitcher
  • Duval pitched a 7-inning complete game in the Nighthawks 12-1 victory over Flagler
  • Struck out 6, with just one walk and one run over 7 innings
  • Held the Saints to just 3 hits on a .125 opposing batting average
  • On the season, Duval is tied for the lead in the PBC in wins (6), is fifth in batters struck out (44), sixth in earned run average (3.37) and fewest runs allowed (20) and eight in opposing batting average (.248)
Freshman of the Week
Cam Hodge, North Georgia
Freshman, Designated Hitter/ Catcher
  • Helped North Georgia to a 2-2 week
  • Had a .385 batting average, .615 slugging percentage and .529 on base percentage for the week
  • Posted 5 hits, 8 RBI’s and scored 2 runs for the week along with one home run and one stolen base
  • On the season, Hodge leads the PBC in runs batted in (43) and is tied for second in home runs (7) 

SOFTBALL
Player of the Week
Emily Hobbs, GCSU
Senior, Infield
  • Helped GCSU to a 3-2 week
  • Had a .571 batting average, .786 slugging percentage and .533 on base percentage for the week
  • Totaled five RBIs, eight hits and four runs with one home run and one stolen base
  • On the season, Hobbs has a .323 batting average, .435 slugging percentage and .419 on base percentage 
Pitcher of the Week
Chloe Poss, North Georgia
Senior, Pitcher
  • Made two appearances for the Nighthawks this week, going 2-0 from the mound with a 1.08 ERA for the week
  • Poss threw 3 innings in a 13-1 game one victory over Lander, with two strikeouts and just one hit, holding opponents to a .100 batting average
  • Threw a 10-inning complete game in the 3-2 victory over Lander to secure the series victory, striking out 10 while allowing just two runs from eight hits, holding opponents to a .211 batting average
  • Poss leads the PBC in wins (15), batters struck out looking (33) and is second in opposing batting average (.203), innings pitched (103.2) and batters struck out (86)
Freshman of the Week
Chloe Webb, USCA
Freshman, First Base
  • Helped USCA to a 4-1 week
  • Had a .313 batting average, .563 slugging percentage and .313 on base percentage for the week
  • Totaled five RBIs, five hits and three runs with three triples
  • On the season, Webb has a .348 batting average, .530 slugging percentage and .377 on base percentage 
 
MEN’S TENNIS
Player of the Week
Hugo Didier, Columbus State
Sophomore
  • Led #6 Columbus State to a 7-0 win over #34 Nebraska-Kearney
  • Won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles with teammate Benedek Szombathelyi
  • Won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles over #52 Andy Brisdon
  • Didier is currently ranked as the #44 singles player in the national rankings
 
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Player of the Week
Maria Jose Zarza, Lander
Junior
  • Zarza earned a ranked win at No. 1 singles to remain unbeaten on the season.
  • She defeated Belmont Abbey’s Kaitlin Nguyen (No. 71 nationally) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, securing a victory against a nationally ranked opponent.
  • With the win, Zarza improved to 7-0 in singles play, continuing her strong start at the top.
 
 
MEN’S LACROSSE
Offensive Player of the Week
Carson Skinner, Lander
Graduate, Attacker
  • Carson Skinner scored seven goals and added three assists for a 10-point week for Lander, shooting 63.6%
  • He scored three goals and had two assists versus Belmont Abbey last Wednesday with one ground ball.
  • Skinner tacked on four goals and an assist in a 24-1 win over Virginia State to cap the week on Saturday
  • Skinner is third in the PBC in goals per game (2.00), fourth in total goals (22), assists (11) and assists per game (1.0). He is also tied fourth in points (33) and points per game (3.0)
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jonah Smith, Flagler
Sophomore, Goalkeeper
  • Helped lead the Saints to wins over #10 Colorado Mesa and UAH
  • Made 18 saves, allowing 9 goals in a 10-9 victory over Colorado Mesa
  • Made 9 saves allowing 5 goals in a 14-5 victory over UAH
  • Smith is averaging 7.78 goals against on the season with a .600 save percentage on 125 total shots faced
 
 
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track Athlete of the Week
Nasrudin Mohamed, Augusta
Senior
  • Competed at the Yellow Jacket Invvitational this weekend
  • Placed third in the 5,000m with a time of 14:29.02, the fastest time in the PBC this season, and sixth fastest in NCAA Division II
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Samuel Mitchell, USCB
Freshman
  • Competed at the Emory Spring Break Classic this weekend
  • Placed 1st in the long jump with a mark of 7.55m, the farthest in the PBC this season so far
  • Set the new school record for USCB and reached the NCAA provisional mark
 
 
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track Athlete of the Week
Laura McBride, ERAU
Graduate
  • Competed at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge this weekend
  • Finished 9th in the 800m with a time of 2:10.85, and is one of just six athletes to reach the NCAA provisional standard so far this season
  • Finished 14th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.1
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Keira Davis, Clayton State
Freshman
  • Competed at the Emory Spring Break Classic this weekend
  • Won the high jump with a final height of 1.60m, which is second in the PBC this season
 
MEN’S GOLF
Player of the Week
Jordan Jones, GSW
Sophomore
  • Jones won the Bobcat Invitational by seven strokes
  • Fired rounds of 68 and 64 to finish at 8-under par, just one out of five players to finish under par in the 74-player field
  • His performance helped lead Georgia Southwestern to the team title in a weather-shortened 36-hole event that featured nine teams ranked inside the top 25
  • Jones is currently ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II

WOMEN’S GOLF
Player of the Week
Sydney Himes, CSU
Sophomore
  • Himes finished tied for first at the Oldfield Intercollegiate
  • Himes carded rounds of +1, +4 to share medalist honors to pace the CSU lineup
  • Columbus State finished tied for second place as a team
