PBC Women's Tennis Semifinal Recap

The PBC Women's Tennis Tournament continued this morning as the top four teams battled it out on the court. #1 Columbus State advanced past #4 Middle Georgia and will face #2 Flagler, who secured the victory over North Georgia. The Cougars will face the Saints in the PBC Championship on Sunday morning at 10:00am in Columbus. This is just the third time the pair will meet in the PBC Tournament championship match.

NINTH RANKED LADY COUGARS ADVANCE TO PBC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH


COLUMBUS – The top-seeded Columbus State women's tennis team won its 11th straight match with a 4-1 victory over No. 37 Middle Georgia State University on Saturday morning in the Semifinal round of the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Championship at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Columbus State grabbed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 2, respectively.
  • Grad student Annie Adams and junior Maria Markosov teamed up for a 6-1 win in the third doubles flight, with the duo of senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova won 6-3 at No. 2.
  • Temkova opened singles play with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win in the second flight, followed by a 7-5, 6-1 win on court one from the Peach Belt Player of the Year (12) Gullacksen over the nation's 65th-ranked singles player.
  • Senior Laura Pesickova finished off the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 5 matchup to move Columbus State onto the tournament finale.

Columbus State will face off against No. 17 Flagler College in the championship match tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m.
 

#2 FLAGLER 4-2 #3 NORTH GEORGIA
LOMENZO CLINCHES TO SEND THE SAINTS TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP


COLUMBUS, Ga. - In the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the No. 17 Flagler College women's tennis team upset the University of North Georgia 4-2 to advance to the championship round this afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

The Saints defeated North Georgia for the second time this season. Flagler will face top seeded, No. 19 Columbus State University tomorrow at 10 a.m. This is the fifth time in six years the Saints have advanced to the championship round of the conference tournament.

Dropping the doubles point, the Saints rallied back to secure the singles point. No. 23 Eryka Kruk started off with a huge upset over No. 18 Anastasiia Opolska, 6-2 and 6-1. Exchanging 6-0 sets, Sofia Balsera defeated Linn Goerdes with her third set 6-3 finish. To gain the lead for the first time today, No. 15 Elena Ondobo defeated No. 34 Olesya Stokusova 6-3 and 7-5. Clinching the win was court six's Ornella Lomenzo. Lomenzo took down Emily Bush 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4).
