Flagler College Wins Second Straight Peach Belt Commissioner’s Cup

AUGUSTA, GA – Flagler College won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner’s Cup for the second straight time as the league announced its annual awards on Thursday. The Cup is presented annually to the best overall athletic department based on regular-season standings and select championships. Flagler captured 95.5 out of a possible 125 points available to them based on the number of sports sponsored – the exact same total as 2018-19 when the won their first cup. That resulted in a .764 rating to edge out North Georgia in second place at .757.

The .007 margin is the closest in the Cup standings since North Florida edged Kennesaw State by .006 following the 2003-04 season.

Flagler won PBC regular-season championships in women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s golf. The Saints were also champions in women’s cross country and finished second in men’s cross country and women’s tennis.

North Georgia finishes in the top three in the Commissioner’s Cup standings for the fourth year in a row, including a win in 2016-17. The 20-21 Nighthawks won the softball league title and split the points in women's cross country after finishing in a tie with Flagler. UNG was also second in women’s soccer, women’s basketball, baseball, women’s track and women’s golf.

Columbus State finished third in the Cup standings at .657 following championships in men’s and women’s tennis.

The PBC Commissioner's Cup is determined by calculating the number of points possible to each school, given the number of sports they participate in, divided by the number of points earned during the year.  Points are determined by placement in the final regular-season standings in each of the PBC's 16 championship sports.
