OAKWOOD, GA -- The Flagler College Saints tied a Peach Belt Conference record as they won their seventh straight women's cross country championship on Saturday at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Course. The Saints had the first four runners across the line, led by individual champion Taylor Stone, and finished with 19 points.
The seven straight championships matches Kennesaw State who won seven from 1994-2000. Flagler captures their eighth overall women's cross country title.
Augusta was second with 45 points, placing three runners in the top 10. Host North Georgia was third with Georgia College & State University fourth and Lander fifth.
Stone becomes the third straight Saint to win the Individual Champion honor. The senior ran the 5k course in 17:22.5, the fourth-fastest 5k ever run at the PBC Championships. Her 20.9 second margin of victory is the 12th-largest in conference history.
Flagler's Enola Savel finished second with Monique Whiteman in third and Abigail Misch in fourth. Flagler's Franzi Martens was the high freshman finisher with a time of 18:21.5 and was named the Freshman of the Year.
Flagler's Brian Beil was named the PBC Coach of the Year for the seventh consecutive season.
