North Georgia Wins NCAA Men's Golf Regional!

GAINESVILLE, GA -- The #1-ranked University of North Georgia men's golf team shot a final-round 291 to capture the 2024 NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional title on Saturday in Gainesville. The Nighthawks finished 10 strokes ahead of second-place Coker and were the only team to finish the event under par at -9 855. The event was played at the par-72, 7,166-yard Chattahoochee Golf Club.

UNG advances to the NCAA National Championships which will begin on May 21 at the Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla. The event is part of the NCAA Spring Sports Festival in Orlando.

The top five teams advanced to the nationals with UNG the lone representative from the Peach Belt. Coker, Lee, West Florida and Wingate also advance from the super regional. Nova Southeastern's Joseba Torres and Florida Southern's Tyler Mistretta will advance as the top two individuals not on an advancing team.

UNG's Jack Vajda won medalist honors after a final-round 67, the low round of the day. Vajda, who also won the PBC Championship back in April, shot 71-70-67 to finish at eight-under 208, one stroke ahead of Torres, who held the lead after two rounds. Vajda carded six birdies with one bogey on the day, playing the first nine bogey-free in 32.

Will Chambless finished in a tie for 11th for the Nighthawks with an even-par 216. Ethan Day was tied for 13th one stroke back with a 217, Myles Jones was tied for 17th at 218 and Hughes Threlkeld was tied for 40th at 222.

Lander was the next-highest PBC team, finishing in eighth place after making the biggest jump on the leaderboard on Saturday by moving up seven spots. The Bearcats fired a final-round 286, the lowest team round of the day. The Bearcats' Linus Jonsson jumped 21 spots into a tie for seventh with a final round of 69.

Georgia Southwestern finished in 16th spot with Columbus State 18th and USC Aiken 19th.
