GAINESVILLE, FLA -- The Peach Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will return to the Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, Fla., this coming Monday, Feb. 17. Events will begin at 9:00 am and proceed through 4:00 pm when champions will be crowned for the men and women. Tickets are available here.
This is the second season of PBC Indoor Track & Field and will feature five institutions with defending men's and women's champion Embry-Riddle on tap to return. Clayton State, Columbus State, Lander and USC Beaufort will also be competing.
Women
PBC women's athletes have set six NCAA provisional marks during the course of the regular season with several events destined for highly competitive finishes.
In the 800 meters, Embry-Riddle's Taylor Roth and Flagler's Taylor Stone both set NCAA marks with Roth running a 2:12.38 at the Celebration Pointe Classic and Stone a 2:13.02 at the Legends of Alachua County meet.
Stone also set provisional marks in the mile (4:49.90) and the 3000 meters (9:43.73). Her mile time is the 19th fastest run in NCAA Division II so far this season.
Embry-Riddle's Mikaela Miles crushed the NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump with a leap of 12.52m (41'1") at the Legends of Alachua County meet. That jump is the 5th-longest in Division II this season.
ERAU's Brooklynn Gould also set records in the pentathlon this season with 3702 points at the RADD Sports Invitational. That total is a PBC indoor record and surpassed the NCAA provisional mark by nearly 500 points. The PBC does not hold pentathlon at its championships, but Gould also has the furthest long jump in the conference this season at 5.41 meters, has the second-longest shot put, the second-highest high jump and second-fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles.
Men
The PBC men's indoor triple jump could be a competition for the ages with three competitors having beaten the NCAA qualifying mark this season.
Embry-Riddle's Kobe Diggs set the conference mark at 14.92m at the RADD Sports Invitational. Teammate Antonio Caito, who competed in this event at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, hit the provisional mark three times this season with a best of 14.89 at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational. Clayton State's Davonte Jackson also beat the NCAA mark with a jump of 14.75m at the KMS Invitational.
Embry-Riddle's Aaron Nash sailed past the NCAA mark in the long jump with a leap of 7.36m (24'1.75") at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational. That jump is the 17th-longest in Division II this season.
