PBC Players of the Week for Feb. 17

Softball

Player of the Week - Peri Rouillard, USC Aiken (Jr., OF, Lexington, S.C.)

  • Hit .500 over 22 at-bats in six games last week with two triples and eight RBIs...collected hits in five of the six games with four multi-hit games
  • Tied the Peach Belt and USC Aiken record with two triples in a game, going 4-for-4 against Erskine with two RBIs...had four multi-RBI games...stole three bases
  • Leads the PBC in hits, runs and triples...is ranked sixth in the league in RBIs and tied for eighth in stolen bases

Pitcher of the Week - Kamryn Akins, Lander (Jr., Union, S.C.)

  • Threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout against Carson-Newman...pitched all seven innings in the 4-0 win with seven strikeouts and no walks
  • Retired the first six batters in order before allowing a single in the third, then retired 11 straight before a single to start the seventh...helped turn a 1-2-3 double play that inning
  • Improved to 3-0 on the season and is tied for sixth in the PBC in wins...also ranked fifth in strikeouts and 10th in ERA

Freshman of the Week - Lily Miller, Columbus State (Fr., P, Grovetown, Ga.)

  • Improved to 2-1 on the season with four shutout innings in a win over Albany State...allowed three hits and four walks while striking out seven
  • Retired the side in order in the third and struck out the side in the fourth
  • Leads the PBC in opponent batting average and is third in ERA

Men's Lacrosse

Offensive Player of the Week - Matthew Boas, Montevallo (Jr., Att., Nanaimo, British Columbia)

  • Scored six goals with four assists over two games last week on 11 total shots
  • Scored two goals with an assist on five shots in a tight 14-13 loss to (RV) Saint Leo...scored four goals with three assists in a 19-13 win over Thomas More...added three ground balls and one caused turnover
  • Currently ranked third in the Peach Belt in goals per game, assists per game and points per game

Defensive Player of the Week - Ty Scheckenbach, Flagler (Fr., D, Centennial, Colo.)

  • Led a Saints defense that limited (RV) Florida Tech to just five goals in a 10-5 win in Flagler's lone outing of the week
  • Had three ground balls and caused three turnovers, co-leading the team in both categories...the five goals allowed is the third-lowest allowed by any PBC team this season and FITs lowest scoring output of the season
  • Currently ranked seventh in the PBC in ground balls per game and eighth in caused turnovers per game...Flagler has allowed the fewest goals scored against of any PBC team this season

Women's Basketball

Player of the Week - Emily Trushel, North Georgia (Grad., F, Brentwood, Tenn.)

  • Led the 10th-ranked Nighthawks to two wins last week, averaging 23.5 points and 5.00 rebounds per game...shot 70% (16-23) from the field in both games combined and 62% (8-13) from three-point range
  • Scored a career-high 33 points on 10-for-14 shooting against USC Beaufort in just 25 minutes on the floor...hit six of nine three-pointers in that game with five boards and three steals...the 33 is the second-highest single-game point total in the PBC this season
  • Surpassed 1,500 career points on the week and is currently seventh in the PBC in scoring, 11th in rebounding and leads the conference in field goal percentage

Men's Basketball

Player of the Week - Dimitri Gardner, Augusta (Jr., G, Winchester, Va.)

  • Led the Jaguars to two more wins last week on the road, averaging 24.5 points per game while shooting 62% from the field and 50% from three-point range
  • Scored 24 with five assists, two steals and a block at Flagler, hitting 11 of 15 shots from the floor...scored 25 with four rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists at Georgia Southwestern
  • Leads the PBC and is ranked 12th in NCAA Division II in scoring with 23.0 ppg...also ranked seventh in the league in field goal percentage

Baseball

Player of the Week - Andrews Opata, North Georgia (Jr., CF, Lawrenceville, Ga.)

  • Led the UNG offense in a sweep of Saint Leo, hitting .571 with a .929 slugging percentage, two doubles, a home run and nine RBIs
  • Had multiple hits in all three games, going 3-for-4 in the opener with a three-run home run and four RBIs...went 2-for-4 in game two with a double...3-for-6 in the third game with a double and four RBIs...stole four bases without being caught
  • Leads the PBC in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, runs, hits and home runs...is second in RBIs and third in on-base percentage

Pitcher of the Week - Bradley Wilson, Georgia College & State University (Sr., RHP. Irwinton, Ga.)

  • Pitched seven shutout innings in the series finale against Lynn...did not get a decision in the game, but allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out six
  • Retired the side in order three times..retired nine batters in a row at one point...only one Lynn baserunner made it to second while on the mound
  • Leads the team in strikeouts and is second in innings pitched

Freshman of the Week - Ty Cobb, Augusta (Fr., P/UT, Louisville, Ga.)

  • Pitched four innings of scoreless relief in AU's 8-4 loss to Florida Tech...allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out four
  • Entered the game to start the sixth inning and finished it out...did not allow a baserunner past second base
  • Made his second collegiate appearance and his longest outing

Women's Tennis

Player of the Week - Angelina Linnikova, North Georgia (Sr., Irkutsk, Russia)

  • Ranked #4 in singles by the ITA, she remained perfect on the season with singles and doubles wins against #10 Auburn-Montgomery
  • Partnered with Linn Goerdes to defeat the 15th-ranked AUM doubles team of Garcia and Ibarra 6-3...also defeated Garcia 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles
  • Is 4-0 in both singles and doubles this season...has lost only 17 games in singles through four matches

Men's Tennis

Player of the Week - Baptiste Mercier, Flagler (Sr., Mimes, France)

  • Went 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles at the ITA Indoor Championships
  • Defeated Sebastian Rondon of #6 West Florida 6-4, 7-5 and Dylan Andrianaly of #3 Saint Leo 6-3, 6-1...was leading Manu Lanteri of #12 UIndy 4-6, 6-3, 5-4 when the match was called
  • Won doubles matches with partner Ilian Borlee against the West Florida #2 team 6-3 and the Indianapolis team 6-3...fell to the 3rd-ranked doubles team of Iriarte and Cohen from Saint Leo 7-5

Men's Golf

Golfer of the Week - Felipe Gomez, Georgia Southwestern (Sr., Santander, Spain)

  • Making his GSW debut, Gomez won the LMU Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in St. Augustine, shooting rounds of 69-69-67 to finish 11-under 205...was three strokes clear of the field of 100 golfers
  • Had 14 birdies with only three bogeys in the entire tournament...played bogey-free in the final round with five birdies
  • His 54-hole score of 205 is tied for the lowest in the PBC this season
