Men's Golf
Golfer of the Week - Hughes Threlkeld, North Georgia (Sr., Savannah, Ga.)
Threlkeld shot rounds of 75 and 76 to open play at the Argonaut Invitational and sat in 66th place. He then shot a 10-under-par 62 in the final round, rocketing up 52 places to finish 14th. His 62 is the lowest round, total score and to pay, in Peach Belt Conference history. It is also the lowest score in UNG history and in the 29-year history of the Argonaut Invitational. The previous PBC low round was a 63 shot in 2014.
Women's Golf
Golfer of the Week - Gracie McCoy, Lander (Sr., Columbia, S.C.)
McCoy won her first collegiate event at the UNG Bracket Challenge last week. The senior shot rounds of 68-75-72 to finish at one-under 215 and helped Lander to a team victory as they beat UNG in the bracket final 4-1 in head-to-head medal match play. McCoy had 12 birdies in the event, including seven in her opening round. She has three top-10 finishes on the season and jumps to ninth in the PBC in stroke average.
Men's Tennis
Player of the Week - Rodrigo Perez Crespo, Georgia College & State University (Jr., Ourense, Spain)
- Went 2-0 in singles and doubles as the Bobcats recorded wins over ABAC and #21 North Georgia
- Provided the match-clinching point in a 4-3 win over UNG, beating Robin Eldin 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 at second singles...defeated ABAC's Luka Blache 6-0, 6-3...partnered with Chase Martin to beat the ABAC doubles team 6-0 and UNG's Blanco and Eldin 6-1, both at #1 doubles
- Improved to 12-3 in singles play this spring with a 3-1 mark against conference opponents...is 12-2 at #2 singles...11-2 at #1 doubles
Women's Tennis
Player of the Week - Evelyn Altmaier, Lander (Jr., Kempen, Germany)
- Went 2-0 in singles as Lander got wins over Limestone and Georgia Southwestern
- Defeated Limestone's Galilea Amavicza 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at second singles as Lander went on to win 4-1...beat GSW's Melissa Duarte 6-1, 6-0 in a conference sweep
- Improved to 11-5 in dual match singles with a 4-1 mark against conference competition...is 11-4 at #2 singles...has won four straight
Men's Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week - Carter Wilcox, Lander (Sr., Attack, Harrisburg, N.C.)
- Scored five goals and added five assists as Lander defeated Alabama-Huntsville to remain unbeaten in PBC play...contributed to 10 of Lander's 16 goals in the game, taking 11 shots
- The 10 points is the most in a single game by any PBC player this season...five assists is tied for the single-game high...assisted on three of Lander's first five goals, then scored the sixth and seventh as the Bearcats led 7-0 to start the game
- Leads the PBC and is ranked third in NCAA Division II with 5.69 points per game...is also tied for the league lead in assists per game and third in goals per game
Defensive Player of the Week - Brandon Grusholt, Flagler (Sr., D, Annapolis, Md.)
- Led the Saints defense with the best statistical game in program history against Montevallo...set a school record with six caused turnovers, the most in a game in the PBC this season
- Added seven ground balls as Flagler won 16-9, keeping their opponents to fewer than 10 goals for the third time in the last four games
- Currently ranked fourth in the league in caused turnovers per game and is eighth in ground balls per game
Softball
Player of the Week - Carleigh Knowles, North Georgia (Fr., C, Hawkinsville, Ga.)
- Continued her remarkable freshman season by hitting .438 in five wins last week with a 1.188 slugging percentage, three home runs and seven RBIs...now has 20 home runs on the season which is a UNG team record and tied for fifth-most in a single season in PBC history...is only six home runs away from tying the conference record
- Homered and drove in two run in both the second and third games against Columbus State...also tripled in the third game...homered in the first game against Lee and had three RBIs in the twin bill
- Leads NCAA Division II in home runs...ranked among the PBC's top five in eight offensive categories, leading the conference in homers, slugging percentage, OPS and RBIs
Pitcher of the Week - Chloe Poss, North Georgia (Jr., Thomson, Ga.)
- Went 3-0 in three appearances this week with a 1.91 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 18.1 innings of work...allowed a combined 11 hits and walked only three
- Pitched a complete game against Lee in a 12-2 with with no walks and three strikeouts...struck out 10 in the opener against Columbus State with two walks and two hits with one earned run allowed
- Tied for second in the PBC with 14 wins on the season...ranked fifth in the league in ERA and opponent batting average...sixth in strikeouts
Freshman of the Week - Cooper Watson, Georgia Southwestern (Fr., DP, Auburn, Ala.)
- Hit .556 in three games at Georgia College & State University last week with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs...was 2-for-2 with runners in scoring position and 3-for-3 with runners on base
- Went 2-for-3 in game two with a home run and three RBIs...drove in another in the third game, hitting two doubles
- Leads the PBC in on-base percentage and is third in slugging percentage and OPS...sixth in the conference in batting average
Baseball
Player - Warrick Wilmot, Columbus State (Jr., INF, Panama City, Fla.)
- Hit .500 over five games last week with three doubles and two home runs...drove in nine and had a .950 slugging percentage
- Went 8-for-13 (.615) with eight RBIs in three games against Georgia Southwestern...homered, doubled and drove in four in the opener on three hits...had three more hits in game two with a double and an RBI...drove in three in the series finale with a double on two hits
- Currently tied for ninth in the PBC in RBIs and tied for seventh in doubles
Pitcher - Luke Earnhardt, North Georgia (So., LHP, Rabun Gap, Ga.)
- Pitched eight shutout innings in UNG's 4-0 win over Flagler...allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out seven
- Made 107 pitches in the eight innings...retired the first five batters he faced in order and retired the side in order three times
- Leads the PBC with eight wins this season...currently ranked sixth in the league in ERA and opponent batting average..eight in inning pitched and tied for eighth in strikeouts
Freshman - Luke Miller, Columbus State (Fr., OF, Cartersville, Ga.)
- Hit .273 with three RBIs, two doubles and a home run in five games
- Went 2-for-4 in the opener against West Florida with a double...hit a three-run home run in the second game against the Argonauts...went 2-for-5 in the finale against Georgia Southwestern with a double
- Hitting .313 in his freshman season with four home runs and 27 RBIs...has nine doubles and is 5-for-5 in stolen bases
Women's Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week - Nakhia Montgomery, Columbus State (Jr., Blakely, Ga.)
- Finished in fourth place in the 100m at the Alice Coachman Invitational with a time of 12.13 seconds
- Tied for the fastest 100 run in the PBC this season
- Also finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 25.35, sixth-fastest in the PBC this year
Field Athlete of the Week - Brooklynn Gould, Embry-Riddle (Sr., Eagle River, Alaska)
- Set PBC and ERAU's records with 5260 points in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multi Event...finished 10th in a field consisting of mostly DI athletes..set an NCAA provisional mark
- Broke her own long jump record and hit an NCAA provisional with a leap of 5.89m, second-longest in the PBC this season
- Her 5260 points is the seventh-most in NCAA Division II this year
Men's Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week - Dante Walls, Columbus State (Sr., Albany, Ga.)
- Ran the fastest 400 hurdles in the Peach Belt Conference so far this season with a time of 53.55 a the Alice Coachman Invitational
- Finished in third place in the event and was off the NCAA provisional time by four-tenths...also ran the 110 hurdles, finishing eighth with a personal-best time of 15.68
Field Athlete of the Week - Cam Edwards, USC Beaufort (Jr., Guyton, Ga.)
- Won the long jump at the Georgia Showdown over the weekend with a leap of 7.25m
- That was the longest jump in the Peach Belt so far this season and just .08m off the NCAA provisional distance
- Also won the triple jump with a 14.47...has finished third or better in three of four outdoor meets this year
